Human Realism Study - Semi Procedural Skin

This project is part of an ongoing study of photorealism in rendering humans.

I sculpted the head and bust and then experimented with creating semi-procedural skin using Cycles nodes. Nearly imperceptible flat color details are from a photoscan of a real face; but nearly everything else is procedurally generated with Blender, in part aided by a few low res tiling wrinkle textures.

All in all I consider the attempt a partial failure. My next attempt at a photoreal portrait will use manually sculpted skin details.
